Message from the Clerk – Treasurer

My name is Jathan Wright and I was sworn in your Clerk Treasurer in 2016. My staff and I welcome you to the website for the Linton Clerk – Treasurer.

My position as your Clerk – Treasurer is elected every four years by city residents at the same time as the Mayor and Common Council. No other elected municipal duties are as specifically defined by law as the duties of the Clerk Treasurer. The primary function as your Clerk –Treasurer is to serve as the fiscal officer of the City of Linton and the Linton Municipal Utilities. My office processes the receipts and expenditures of all city and Utilities money; prescribes the payroll for the City and Utilities; determines the manner in which vendors, officers and employees are paid; manages the City and Utilities financial accounts; makes all investments on behalf of the City and Utilities; prepares the budget estimates of revenue, financial statements and the proposed tax rate; manage all city records; I serve as the Clerk of the City Council and Board of Public Works and Safety by preparing agendas, recording proceedings and maintain custody of records.
